Local Business Distribute N95 Masks, PPE with Innovative Website

Social media lit up last weekend with recommendations for where to shop this on Small Business Saturday. While most of ads promoted clothing shops and online stores, there's one sector of small business that don't get enough credit for the essential support they provided us this year.

Local manufacturers and distributors all over the country have pitched in the effort to get military-grade PPE to hospitals and military services in need.

AeroBase Group, a minority woman-owned small business in Florida, has greatly expanded it medical supply branch in response to the nationwide pandemic.

"We could see a need in our community, not just in the headlines," said Chris Pham, AeroBase Group's director of e-commerce and business development. "So we got to work."

The Melbourne-based company has many established connections with military bases world-wide from distributing aerospace and defense supplies. When customers reached out to AeroBase Group for hard-to-find medical supplies, including N95 and KN95 masks, their online marketing team quickly saw a better way to help its partners obtain the medical products they need.

In a matter of weeks, AeroBase Group launched AeroBase Medical+, an e-commerce platform that streamlines shipping available parts and supplies to first responders. On this search-optimized site, civilian and military professionals can find and order medical supplies quickly and easily.

The aerospace company stocked their 20,000 ft. warehouse with boxes of PPE, and stockpiles of antiseptics and respiratory equipment lined shelves in open office space while some team-members worked from home.

"It was incredible how quickly out team was able to bring this idea to life," said Emily Dubec-Hunter, Director of Marketing. "I didn't realize the true scale of this project until I walked back in the office and saw medical supplies stacked and organized wall-to-wall."

Now, in anticipation of a second wave, AeroBase Medical+ has increased its supplies to help replenish on-hand stock for military services and geographic combatant commands - just in time for small-business Saturday.

"Part of our motto 'We Go Where You Go' means anticipating the needs of our customers and community and moving to meet it," Dubec-Hunter said. "As long as they have a need, we'll adapt to meet it."
